Mr-Glass Window Installation: The Hollywood Owner’s Guide

If you have a Mr-Glass window or door with a failed sash, a fogged insulated unit, or hardware that no longer holds square, we install Mr-Glass-compatible window parts throughout Hollywood and typically complete the job the same visit. Installed pricing for a Mr-Glass replacement sash or insulated glass unit in Hollywood runs roughly $220 to $480 per opening, depending on the series and glass package. Most homeowners discover the problem the way you just did: the window won’t lock, the glass fogs between the panes every morning, or a room that used to stay cool in August now feels like a sunroom.

Call (863) 334-2933

We’re an independent service company, not a Mr-Glass dealer. That matters because we’re not obligated to steer you toward a particular replacement line. We match the part to your frame. If the frame is sound, we fix the part. If the frame is the problem, we’ll tell you that plainly and show you options on paper before any work begins.

Which Mr-Glass Models This Applies To

Mr-Glass built a range of aluminum and vinyl window lines over the years, and the replacement part has to match the series, not just the rough opening size. The two most common lines we service in Hollywood are the single-hung aluminum frames found in homes built from the 1980s through the early 2000s, and the vinyl horizontal sliders that came later. The aluminum series uses a narrower sash profile, typically 2-5/8 inches deep for the frame channel. The vinyl sliders run deeper, usually 3-1/4 inches. If you order a sash based only on glass dimensions, you’ll get a part that doesn’t seat or seal. We measure the channel depth, the glass thickness, and the balance shoe spacing before we quote anything.

The quickest way to identify what you have is to check the spacer bar inside the glass or the tag on the top rail of the sash. Some Mr-Glass units have a small etched code in the corner of the glass. A clear photo of either one, plus the inside width and height of the visible glass, is usually enough for us to confirm the line and pull the right part. For the OEM-versus-aftermarket decision: Mr-Glass frames accept a range of quality aftermarket sashes and insulated units without modification, but the glass package matters here in Hollywood. A standard clear unit meets code. A Low-E or impact-rated unit will hold up longer and cut the heat load. We quote both side by side so you see exactly what you’re paying for, not what a salesman decided you should buy.

Signs Your Mr-Glass Window Installation Is Failing

  • Fog or haze between the panes that won’t wipe off. The seal on the insulated glass unit has let go. In Hollywood’s humidity, that fog is condensation inside the dead air space. The glass isn’t cleanable; the unit is done. The fix is a new IGU, and the measurement has to be exact or the replacement won’t seat.
  • The sash won’t stay up or won’t close flush. The balance system, usually a block-and-tackle or spiral balance in Mr-Glass aluminum frames, has worn out or snapped. When the balance fails, the sash drops hard or drifts down on its own, and the window never locks square against the weatherstripping.
  • You have to fight the lock, or the lock won’t engage at all. The sash has shifted out of alignment, which usually means the roller or pivot hardware has worn. Forcing the lock bends the keeper and makes the frame worse. On a slider, a worn roller lets the sash ride low and drag on the track, so the lock never lines up.
  • Drafts you can feel with the window closed, or daylight visible around the sash edge. The weatherstripping is compressed or the sash isn’t seating in the channel. On older Mr-Glass aluminum frames, the corner keys crack and the frame spreads just enough to break the seal. That’s no longer a caulk problem; it’s a part replacement.
  • Condensation or water staining along the interior sill after a heavy Hollywood downpour. The weep system is clogged or the sash gasket has failed, and water is finding its way into the track instead of out through the weep holes. Left alone, this rots interior drywall and rusts the frame channel from the inside.

Replacement Cost & What’s Included

For Mr-Glass windows in Hollywood, here’s what we typically see for installed pricing:

Replacement Installed Range
Insulated glass unit (clear, standard size) $220 - $340
Insulated glass unit (Low-E or tinted) $280 - $420
Replacement sash, aluminum single-hung $260 - $410
Replacement sash, vinyl slider $300 - $480
Balance, roller, or lock hardware (per window) $90 - $180

The range comes down to glass package, sizing, and whether the frame needs anything done before the new part goes in. We give written line-item pricing before work starts, and there are no surprise line items added after we open the wall or pull the sash. Every Mr-Glass replacement we install is covered by The Keystone Standard: we register both warranty layers in writing, state the durations in plain English, and back the workmanship with our Done Right Promise. If something isn’t right, we make it right. No paperwork fights, no arguing.

DIY or Call Us?

You can safely do a few things before calling. Check the weep holes along the bottom track and clear any debris. Look for a visible crack in the sash corner or a missing balance shoe. Take a photo of the spacer bar code or the rail tag. That helps us quote accurately over the phone.

What you shouldn’t try is pulling the sash and replacing balances or rollers on your own. Mr-Glass aluminum frames carry the sash under tension, and if the balance releases while your hand is in the channel, it can break fingers. Glass units are heavy and awkward, and a cracked sealed unit that’s compromised can let go unpredictably. Our technicians do this work every day, with the right tools and the right gloves. We’ll be there when we say, in uniform, and we’ll measure every opening twice before we touch anything. Call (863) 334-2933 and tell us what you’re seeing. We’ll get you a straight answer and a straight quote.
