ViewLux Glass Railing Systems: The Hollywood Owner’s Guide

If your ViewLux glass railing is loose, chipped, fogged, or missing a cap, here’s the direct answer: TruePane stocks and installs ViewLux-compatible glass railing systems across Hollywood, and most replacements run $85 to $240 per linear foot installed, depending on glass thickness, hardware finish, and whether you need a full panel or just hardware. We’re an independent service provider, not affiliated with ViewLux, which means we tell you when a fix will hold and when you need a new panel, without a factory rep’s incentive to sell you a whole railing. Most Hollywood owners discover the problem the way you probably did: a wobble at the top rail, a milky haze between glass layers, or a spigot that won’t tighten flush against the deck.

Which ViewLux Models This Applies To

ViewLux builds railing systems in three broad series that we see in Hollywood homes: the side-mount aluminum base shoe, the top-mount steel spigot, and the fascia-mount with a continuous profile. The part you need depends less on the model name than on two measurements: the glass thickness (ViewLux panels are 10mm, 12mm, or 15mm tempered) and the post spacing (typically 36 to 48 inches on center). The quick way to identify yours: look at the inside of the base shoe or the underside of the top cap. The series marking is etched there, usually a two-letter code followed by the glass thickness in millimeters. If the marking has worn off, measure the glass. If you can’t get a clean measurement, a technician can identify the series in about two minutes with the panel off.

On the OEM versus aftermarket question: ViewLux hardware is well-made, but it is not proprietary. The gaskets, wedges, caps, and stainless spigots are built to standard glass-railing dimensions. We stock OEM-spec hardware and a Florida-rated aftermarket line that holds up better against salt air on barrier-island properties. For Hollywood homes east of Federal Highway, we typically recommend the aftermarket spigots with a marine-grade 316 stainless finish. On the west side, OEM-spec 304 is generally fine. If a panel itself is cracked or delaminated, the glass is not worth patching. Tempered glass cannot be cut or edged after tempering. You replace the panel.

Signs Your ViewLux Glass Railing Systems Is Failing

  • The top rail flexes more than a quarter inch when you lean on it. This usually means the gaskets inside the base shoe have compressed and lost their grip on the glass. If left alone, the glass starts working against the aluminum and the panel can crack at the corner.
  • A chalky white film creeps up from the bottom edge of the glass. That is failed lamination, not surface dirt. In Hollywood’s humidity and salt air, panel lamination on coastal elevations fails faster than any manufacturer’s brochure suggests. We see it as early as eight years within a mile of the Intracoastal.
  • You hear a rattle on windy days. That is metal-to-metal contact between the glass and the spigot or base shoe. The rubber isolators are gone or the screws have backed out. Rattle is the first audible step toward a cracked corner.
  • Stainless hardware shows rust speckling. ViewLux’s base-line hardware is 304 stainless. Within a few blocks of Hollywood Beach, 304 will eventually pit. 316 will not. If you see speckling, the finish is failing and the threading will follow.
  • A gate sags and scrapes the deck. The gate hinge kit on ViewLux systems is the weak point on most installs. A quarter-inch sag means the top hinge has worn. You can buy time by adjusting the bottom hinge, but the top hinge is the actual fix.

Replacement Cost & What’s Included

Here is what we quote in Hollywood, in plain numbers.

  • Hardware replacement (spigots, gaskets, caps, wedges): $85 to $140 per post or cap, depending on finish and stainless grade
  • Full panel replacement with 10mm or 12mm tempered glass: $160 to $240 per linear foot installed
  • Base shoe extraction and reset: $210 to $350 per 8-foot section, depending on how the original installer bedded it
  • Gate hinge replacement (both hinges, new isolators): $185 to $320 for the kit plus an hour of labor

The price range exists because not all Hollywood decks are the same. A 2005-era second-floor balcony with a footer poured tight against a stucco wall costs more to work on than a pool deck with open access from underneath. The quote you get from us is the price you pay, labor and hardware included, in writing. We do not come back with a change order. Every railing job carries our Done Right Promise: if it is not right, we make it right, no fine print and no arguing. And we register any manufacturer warranty that applies, in writing, before the truck leaves your driveway.

DIY or Call Us?

The honest answer is that there are two halves to this job. You can safely tighten a top rail cap with an Allen wrench if it is just the cap screws backing out. You can also check your spigots for a wobble by putting a level against the glass and pressing lightly. But the moment the glass is loose in the base shoe, the moment a panel corner is cracked, or the moment a spigot needs to be unseated from a deck, the risks shift. Tempered glass is strong on the face and unforgiving at the edges. It does not crack slowly under a partial load. It lets go all at once. A panel that weighs 80 to 120 pounds does not need to fall far to shatter across a pool deck or a driveway. We are not saying that to scare you. We are saying it because a railing is a fall-protection system, not a shelving unit. If your railing is not holding true, call us at (863) 334-2933 and we will put a technician on it. The estimate is free, and a live person answers the phone.

What Neighbors Say About TruePane Windows & Doors

★★★★★

"Whole-house window replacement at 71 years old is not something you want to do twice. Dale walked the house himself for the quote. Crew was the same three men all four days, and the foreman knew every window by room."

PPat and Ray L.
★★★★★

"A casement crank had stripped and the sash was swollen shut. The technician, Ray, fixed the crank on the spot and only then talked about replacement for the three windows that were genuinely done. That is why the whole street uses them now."

EEleanor G.
★★★★★

"Our bay window had rotted at the sill and two other outfits wanted to talk us into a flat picture window instead. TruePane rebuilt the opening and matched the original look. Neighbors have knocked on the door about it."

GGene A.
★★★★★

"French doors to the patio, custom size because this house was built in 1961 and nothing is standard. Measured twice, three weeks to fabricate like they warned, and the install day they laid runners over my floors without being asked."

MMarie S.
★★★★★

"Impact windows on the whole house. They handled the permit, the inspection, and gave me a folder with every approval number for the insurance company. My windstorm premium dropped enough to notice."
