Andersen Door Installation: The Hollywood Owner’s Guide

If you have an Andersen door in Hollywood that’s binding, sagging, or leaking at the sill, the fix usually comes down to replacing worn hardware, a failed weatherstrip, or a warped panel and installing it correctly. We stock common Andersen replacement parts on our trucks and install them for $165 to $480 on average across Hollywood, depending on the door series and what’s worn. Most Andersen door repairs and part replacements are done in a single visit, because we arrive with the common failure points already in the bay.

Here’s what brings most Hollywood homeowners to us: a Frenchwood hinged door that drags against the threshold every July, a 400 Series gliding patio door that suddenly takes two hands to move, or a storm door closer that no longer holds the panel in a breeze. One day the door works. The next, it doesn’t. Somebody calls because the door now whistles during afternoon storms or because the lock bolt won’t line up with the strike plate anymore. That’s almost never a one-off failure. It’s a symptom that a part reached the end of its working life, and the door needs the right Andersen-compatible replacement installed square, not just adjusted again.

We’re an independent service provider. We’re not affiliated with Andersen, but we’ve been installing and servicing their door lines across South Broward for going on three decades.

Which Andersen Models This Applies To

Andersen makes a lot of door lines, and the replacement part has to match the series or you’ll be back here again in a season. The big ones in Hollywood homes are the 400 Series Frenchwood hinged patio doors, 200 Series hinged and gliding doors, Narroline gliding doors, and the Perma-Shield storm door line. Each series takes different rollers, hinges, keepers, and weatherstripping. The gliding door roller for a Narroline is not the same as the roller for a 400 Series Perma-Shield, and the track sits at a different height. Put the wrong roller in a 400 Series and the door will ride too high or bind against the jamb.

The surest way to identify your part is the Andersen unit ID number. On 400 Series and 200 Series doors, you’ll find a white or silver label on the top edge or the hinge edge of the door panel, or stamped into the head jamb of the frame. It reads something like “ANDERSEN 400” followed by a string of numbers and letters. Write that down before you call anyone. If the label’s long gone, we measure the roller wheel diameter and the stile thickness on site.

OEM versus aftermarket matters with rollers and more than any other part, in our experience. Andersen’s OEM nylon ball-bearing rollers run smooth and quiet for years. The aftermarket steel-wheel versions some suppliers push are cheaper up front, but they grind down aluminum tracks faster, and in Hollywood’s salt air and humidity, a corroded track becomes the new problem. For weatherstripping and storm door closers, quality aftermarket pieces from brands like Prime-Line hold up fine and often cost less. We’ll quote both where they exist and tell you which one we’d put in our own mother’s house.

Signs Your Andersen Door Installation Is Failing

  • The door drags or scrapes the threshold. This usually means the hinge screws have loosened in the jamb, the threshold has shifted, or the panel itself has settled out of square. In Hollywood, seasonal humidity swells wood frames and makes a mildly out-of-square door worse every summer.
  • The gliding door won’t glide. Ninety percent of the time it’s a flattened or cracked roller wheel. The other ten percent is a track packed with sand and salt grit, which acts like sandpaper on the rollers and chews them up fast here.
  • You feel a draft or see daylight at the jamb. The weatherstrip has compressed past recovery, or the kerf channel that holds it has split. On old Frenchwood units, the vinyl bulb seal flattens out within a few years of salt-air exposure and stops springing back.
  • The lock bolt won’t seat in the strike plate. This isn’t always a lock problem. When a door settles, the panel drops a quarter inch and the hardware moves with it. Replacing the lock without re-aligning the panel fixes nothing.
  • The storm door closer hisses or the panel slams shut. The closer’s hydraulic seals have worn out, or the arm bracket said goodbye to the jamb. High heat and humidity in Hollywood shorten the life of these things considerably.

Replacement Cost & What’s Included

Here’s what Andersen door work runs in Hollywood, installed, with parts included:

Service Typical Installed Price
Gliding door roller replacement (pair) $165 - $240
Hinged door weatherstrip replacement (full perimeter) $120 - $205
Storm door closer replacement $95 - $160
Hinged door re-hang / square-up, with new hinge screws $185 - $310
Threshold replacement and seal bedding $220 - $380
Full panel re-installation on existing frame $360 - $480

The range comes from the door series, the condition of the frame when we open it up, and whether the replacement is OEM or aftermarket. You get a written line-item quote before we start, covering parts and labor separately. We register both manufacturer warranty layers in writing before the truck leaves the driveway, and our work is covered by the Done Right Promise. If it’s not done right, we make it right. No paperwork fights, no arguing.

DIY or Call Us?

You can safely inspect a few things yourself, and you should, because it helps you ask the right question when you call. Check whether the hinge screws are loose and whether the door panel clears the threshold evenly on both sides. Look at the roller wheels if the door is off the track or you can lift the panel. Clean the track out. That’s about where I’d stop.

Where it goes wrong for a homeowner is when the door needs to come out of the opening. A full glass Andersen panel weighs a lot more than it looks like it weighs, and a door that slips off a lift jack while you’re working alone can break a foot or a window, not to mention the person holding it. Re-hanging a Frenchwood door so it closes flush and latches clean means getting the reveal even on all three sides, and if the rough opening itself was never square, you’re fighting something that requires shims and patience, not just a new screw. Setting the panel wrong means the weatherstrip won’t compress evenly, and in Hollywood that means water penetration the first real storm season.

Call (863) 334-2933. We’ll ask about the label number if you found it, schedule a time, and show up with the common parts for your door series already on the truck.

"A casement crank had stripped and the sash was swollen shut. The technician, Ray, fixed the crank on the spot and only then talked about replacement for the three windows that were genuinely done. That is why the whole street uses them now."
