Andersen Sliding & Patio Doors: The Hollywood Owner’s Guide

We stock, match, and install Andersen sliding and patio door replacement parts throughout Hollywood, FL, with most roller, handle, and lock replacements running $145 to $380 installed depending on the series and what failed. The quickest way to know what you’re dealing with is the small etched or printed code on the glass or the metal edge of the door panel, usually starting with “AW” or “Perma-Shield.” When that door starts dragging, jumping the track, or refusing to latch, you’re not imagining it: Florida humidity and salt air are rough on Andersen hardware, and the fix is usually a specific part, not a whole new door.

Most Hollywood owners discover the problem the same way. The door worked fine for ten or fifteen years, then one morning it takes two hands to slide it, or the handle turns without catching, or you notice the panel sitting slightly low in the frame. What looked like a nuisance is usually a roller cartridge that’s flattened or a latch that’s rusted internally. The good news is that Andersen parts are identifiable, replaceable, and in most cases we have them on the truck.

Which Andersen Models This Applies To

Andersen makes several sliding and patio door lines, and the parts are not interchangeable between them. The 200 Series Narroline (no longer made, but still in thousands of Hollywood homes), the Perma-Shield Gliding Patio Door, the 400 Series Frenchwood, the contemporary A-Series, and the newer 100 Series all use different roller assemblies, handles, and strike plates. If someone tells you “an Andersen roller is an Andersen roller,” walk away from that bid. The roller for a 1998 Frenchwood is a different diameter, different axle, and different housing than the roller for a 2018 A-Series.

On the OEM-vs-aftermarket question, we’re direct with customers: for rollers and handles, the Andersen OEM part is usually the right call because the tolerances are tight and the warranty stays intact. For weather stripping and some strike plates, quality aftermarket equivalents can perform every bit as well at half the price, and we’ll show you the difference on paper before you commit. We are an independent service provider, not an Andersen affiliate. But we’ve been installing and repairing their lines in South Broward for long enough to know exactly which corners you can cut without paying for it later.

Signs Your Andersen Sliding & Patio Doors Is Failing

  • The door drags or takes real effort to slide. This is almost always a flattened roller cartridge. Over time, the nylon or steel wheel develops a flat spot and the door stops riding on bearings, it’s riding on the wheel housing. In Hollywood’s humidity, the axle often corrodes too, which doubles the drag.
  • The handle turns but the door doesn’t lock. The inside of a Andersen handle assembly has a small die-cast drive gear that mates with the latch rod. That gear strips after years of use. You can hear it: the handle spins with less resistance and you get a little metallic click that isn’t the latch engaging.
  • The door jumps or catches mid-track. When one roller has collapsed but the other hasn’t, the panel tilts slightly and the leading edge clips the track joint. That’s not a track problem, it’s a roller problem, and continuing to force it is how tracks get bent.
  • Drafts or visible daylight at the stile. The weatherstrip on Andersen patio doors is a vinyl fin that slides into a kerf on the panel edge. It shrinks with age, and salt air makes it brittle. Once it’s curled and stiff, it’s done. No amount of caulk fixes it.
  • The panel sits visibly low or scrapes the threshold. That’s a sign the roller adjusters have been cranked to their limit or the rollers have fully collapsed. It’s not a cosmetic issue. A panel riding low is putting weight on the bottom rail, which is exactly how Andersen panels warp in Florida heat.

Replacement Cost & What’s Included

For Hollywood homeowners, here’s honest pricing on common Andersen sliding and patio door parts, installed:

  • Single roller cartridge replacement: $95 to $180 per roller, depending on series. Most doors need both bottom rollers done at once.
  • Handle and latch assembly replacement: $145 to $260, including the interior and exterior handles, the latch, and new strike plate.
  • Full weatherstrip replacement on one panel: $120 to $220, including the top, bottom, and interlock seals.
  • Lock and deadbolt replacement: $130 to $240, depending on whether it’s a single-point or multi-point locking door.
  • Complete track replacement (bent or cracked track): $280 to $520, and this is the one we always recommend a site check on before pricing.

The price includes the part, the labor, the old part removed from your home, and our Done Right Promise. That means the work is done right or we come back and make it right, no paperwork argument. If you have a 20-year-old Andersen and the roller has disintegrated, we’ll show you the old part next to the new one before we set it. That’s been our habit for years.

DIY or Call Us?

Replacing Andersen sliding door parts is generally not a high-tension job the way a torsion spring or a gas line is, but there are honest ways to get hurt and costly ways to get it wrong. The panel on a 6-by-8 Andersen gliding door weighs well over 150 pounds. That’s a two-person lift, not a weekend project on your own, and the glass is tempered but tempered glass still shatters into thousands of cubes if you set a corner on concrete.

What you can safely do is lift the panel slightly and look underneath for a broken or flattened roller, check the screws on the handle, and note if the door is catching at a particular spot on the track. What you shouldn’t do is remove the panel without a second person, force a stuck door, or order a roller from a parts website based on a photo and a guess. We’ve fixed enough doors where a well-meaning owner ordered the wrong series part online to know that the thirty-dollar savings wasn’t worth the second trip. If you can see the model code on the glass or the panel, call us at (863) 334-2933 and we’ll tell you which part you need. Estimates are free, and if we have the part on the truck, the job is done in a single visit.

What Neighbors Say About TruePane Windows & Doors

★★★★★

"Whole-house window replacement at 71 years old is not something you want to do twice. Dale walked the house himself for the quote. Crew was the same three men all four days, and the foreman knew every window by room."

PPat and Ray L.
★★★★★

"A casement crank had stripped and the sash was swollen shut. The technician, Ray, fixed the crank on the spot and only then talked about replacement for the three windows that were genuinely done. That is why the whole street uses them now."

EEleanor G.
★★★★★

"Our bay window had rotted at the sill and two other outfits wanted to talk us into a flat picture window instead. TruePane rebuilt the opening and matched the original look. Neighbors have knocked on the door about it."

GGene A.
★★★★★

"French doors to the patio, custom size because this house was built in 1961 and nothing is standard. Measured twice, three weeks to fabricate like they warned, and the install day they laid runners over my floors without being asked."

MMarie S.
★★★★★

"Impact windows on the whole house. They handled the permit, the inspection, and gave me a folder with every approval number for the insurance company. My windstorm premium dropped enough to notice."
