CGI Window Installation: The Hollywood Owner’s Guide

If you’re holding a CGI window that needs proper installation in Hollywood, FL, you’re looking at an installed price typically between $85 and $165 per window for a straightforward sash replacement, and $275 to $600 for a full-frame installation depending on the model and opening condition. We stock CGI-compatible hardware and weatherstripping on our trucks, and most single-window jobs are done in one visit. The usual discovery goes like this: you’ve lived in the house for fifteen or twenty years, the window worked fine through every hurricane season until this one, and now it won’t latch, won’t seal, or the sash hangs crooked in the frame. I grew up in the Liberia neighborhood here in Hollywood, and I’ve seen exactly how salt air and summer humidity work on window hardware over the decades. Dale Kessler and the team at TruePane Windows & Doors have been setting and troubleshooting windows in South Broward for going on three decades, and we treat every CGI install like it has to pass reinspection without a callback.

Which CGI Models This Applies To

CGI Windows & Doors builds several product lines common in Hollywood homes, and the installation specifics change between them. The Estate Collection, Estate Impact, Classic Collection, and Panorama lines each use different frame depths and glazing retention methods. The fastest way to identify what you have is the label. Look on the inside edge of the frame or the top of the sash. Every CGI unit carries a product identification label with the series name, manufacturing date, and a serial number. If the label is missing or faded, measure the visible glass width and height in inches, then measure the full frame depth at the sill. Estate series frames typically run 3-1/4 inches deep, while the heavier impact-rated lines like Estate Impact sit closer to 5-1/4 inches.

When we talk about replacement parts for CGI windows, there’s a real and important difference between OEM (original equipment manufacturer) hardware and aftermarket equivalents. For latching hardware and rollers, OEM or a known-quality equivalent is the safest route, because CGI’s interlock design relies on tight factory tolerances. Aftermarket weatherstripping and glazing gaskets can work fine if they’re sourced for the specific series and milled to the same dimensions, but the cheap vinyl substitutes sold at big-box stores won’t hold a seal through a Hollywood summer. We’re an independent service provider, not affiliated with CGI, but we’ve worked with enough of their units to know what fits and what doesn’t.

Signs Your CGI Window Installation Is Failing

  • Sash won’t stay up or slides down on its own. This points to worn or corroded balance hardware. In Hollywood’s salt-heavy air, the metal balance springs or spiral rods inside the frame are often the first component to weaken. The sash hangs, the window gets harder to operate, and eventually it won’t hold position at all.
  • Air or water leaking around the frame even when the window is closed and locked. The culprit is usually compressed or cracked weatherstripping, or an interlock that’s out of alignment. If you can slide a piece of paper between the sash and frame with the window latched, the seal is gone. That paper should catch tight.
  • Crank handles spin freely with no movement of the sash. This happens when the gear mechanism inside the operator has stripped. It’s a common failure on casement and awning-style CGI windows that see daily use. Once the gear is stripped, adjusting it won’t help, the mechanism needs replacement.
  • Visible fogging or moisture between the glass panes. This is a failed insulated glass unit, not a frame problem. The seal has opened and let humid Florida air into the space between the panes. The fix is a new IGU, installed and sealed into the existing frame, which typically saves a lot over a full window replacement.
  • Frame corners separating or visible cracking along the welds. This is structural, and it’s the one symptom that usually points to a full window replacement rather than a part swap. In Hollywood, prolonged UV exposure and thermal cycling can eventually break down the vinyl weld at the corners, and once that happens the frame won’t seat square again.

Replacement Cost & What’s Included

Here’s what you can expect to pay for CGI window installation work in Hollywood, FL. These are installed prices, parts and labor together:

  • Weatherstripping replacement, single window: $85-$165
  • Sash balance or operator replacement: $120-$210
  • Latch or interlock alignment and repair: $95-$180
  • Insulated glass unit replacement: $325-$575 per IGU depending on glass size and impact rating
  • Full-frame replacement CGI window, standard size: $900-$1,800 per window, installed

What drives the range is mostly glass size and frame condition. A small fixed-pane bathroom window is at the low end. A large impact-rated picture window with a compromised existing frame is at the high end. We write line-item quotes on paper before any work starts, and we don’t add surprise charges at the end. Our Done Right Promise means if the install isn’t right, we come back and make it right, no paperwork fights and no arguing. Both warranty layers, manufacturer and workmanship, get registered in writing before the truck leaves your driveway. That’s the Keystone Standard our business was built on.

DIY or Call Us?

There are a few things an owner can safely check before calling. You can look for the product label to identify your series. You can test the seal with a piece of paper as described above. You can note which sash is failing and when it started. What we don’t recommend for CGI windows is replacing balance hardware or adjusting interlock mechanisms from a YouTube video. Impact-rated windows are precisely weighted systems. A balance spring under tension can release fast enough to take a finger off if it’s handled wrong, and an interlock that’s forced into alignment can damage the latching mechanism permanently. That’s not a warning to scare you, it’s just the reality of the equipment. If you’ve got the label and the measurements, give us a call at (863) 334-2933. We’ll tell you over the phone whether it’s likely a part swap or a full replacement, and what the realistic range is for your window.

Measure it right, set it square, and the paperwork takes care of itself.
